Merry Christmas
November 24, 2007 3:44pm
Hi everyone. It’s about time for us to update the website again. We always have the best of intentions, but there’s only 24 hours in a day! And by “we”, I mean Damian. Because the last thing I’m going to do is upload pictures and write a bunch of computer code. You’d be better off getting Stella to try it! She is a very smart little girl. I think she’s soaking it all in from Nico.
We’ve just celebrated Stella’s first birthday. It’s hard to believe that only a year ago, Pat was here with us and we were just getting to know the wee girl. Now she’s walking and just so busy, getting into everything. She had a lovely little party which was more for Nico that it was for her, but she enjoyed it very much, especially the cupcake!
Nico just gets smarter by the second. He can add and subtract any combination of numbers up to five, but he doesn’t give a hoot about the alphabet. Does that sound like a budding engineer, like his Dad? He’s doing really well in school and is a real social butterfly. He chose to be a cowboy for Halloween and has made good use of the costume since then! “Howdy Partner!”
Damian’s new job which isn’t so new anymore is going well. He’s been learning some very exciting computer design programs in a sink-or-swim kind of way, but he’s determined to pick it up. Now if he could just teleport himself to Dripping Springs everyday and avoid the nasty commute…
We’ve finally joined the ranks of the minivan club. I always swore we’d never get one, but it’s actually pretty nice and hopefully, soon we’ll have a third little one to put in it. I’m working a bit more to try to pay it off as soon as possible. It’s definitely keeping me busy.We finally got the first really cold snap of the season, just in time to make it chilly outside for Thanksgiving. No more swimming! Pretty soon we’ll put up the Christmas tree and decorate the outside of the house. I think we’ll go all out this year since Nico and Stella will both be able to appreciate it. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and that you are all happy and healthy.
We are Keeping the Pictures and Movies updated so please check often for updates.

Most people have a turkey for Thanksgiving but we have a new baby daughter! Here she is, Stella Celeste was born Monday morning, 13th November 2006, 8lbs 4oz, number 2 is here at last.
Stella is just beautiful and both mother and child are very happy and healthy, Nico just loves her and is very helpful, wanting to hold 'Baby Sister' and is now telling her softly that all is OK and not to worry if she is crying and will give her a big kiss on the head to make it all better. This is in contrast to the first time that he met his sister, she was only about half an hour old and the nurse had just brought her out of the nursery to take her to see Rebecca in the recovery room. Of course the whole family was there milling around and Stella just had to stop for all of the paparazzi, Nico snatched her up in his arms from the nurse and gave her a good looking over, this startled her a little understandably and she started to wail (she has a great strong cry by the way), Nico responded with an entusiastic "SHUT UP!" It was absolutely hilarious and everyone cracked up, that’s our boy!
Oma is in town for about 2 months and is busy helping us out, what a pleasure, we now have to actually compete for baby holding time! Stella is a very good sleeper and likes nothing better than to be held and moddy-coddled, we gave her the first bath today, a bit late at 9 days old but she wasn't even dirty...... I will make sure to keep the Pictures and Movies updated so please check back often for updates.

Now that Nico is a big Brother it is important to not "forget him" and have every one ohh and ahhh over the new baby, we have had lots of advice from many people and it is all good. As an example, let Nico introduce Stella when people come to visit. This has worked wonders and I really think that he is proud of his little baby Sister. When Stella was born and still in the hospital we went out and got a gift for Nico "from Stella", it is a cool garbage truck with flashing lights and buttons and phrases etc “I love the smell of trash!". This is perfect as Nico has just discovered adjectives in speech and his current favorite is STINKY, everything is stinky and he uses it very appropriately too.
So as not to be a hypocrite I have updated Nico's Pictures with lots of good action shots and plenty of smiles and have added some more info on his pages, so check it all out!

Well, I guess you can tell that we've been really busy just from the fact that we haven't updated the website in awhile! Alot has happened since Nico's first birthday. We really enjoyed having Opa over for that and then we were super excited that Auntie Mel, Uncle Kim and Cousin Molly could all come to visit for the month of September. Even though it was autumn, the weather was excellent and we spent a good portion of the time in the pool! We took time out to visit Sea World in San Antonio and Six Flags Amusement Park up in Dallas. Molly is very brave and went on all the big, scarey rides! Nico got to go on the Log Ride and loved the Merry-Go-Round. Damian and Kim rented some Harleys and got to scoot around for a day. And of course, we went to the shooting range so they could get in some target practice. We were very sorry to see them go and now we're waiting for the next batch of rellies to come see us!!
Nico started going to school in October. He is just going three days a week and he really enjoys it. He has alot of older children in his class, up to three years old, and he is learning very quickly, both good and bad things! He has an absolutely huge vocabulary and is a right chatterbox. He's started going to the big potty and is getting the hang of that pretty quickly. He can run very fast without falling down. He is a very muscle-y boy with rock hard calves. He's also a very sweet boy and always wants to make sure everyone is happy and healthy. He'll be happy to kiss any boo-boos for you and make them feel "bedder" and he's practicing on hugging his smaller friends without knocking them over. He can count things up to two, prefferably Hank and Flobee's ears or any kind of food. He can sing a few songs and is partial to Itsy Bitsy Spider and Happy Birthday and the Wheels on the Bus. We have command performances in the car, as in "Daddy, sing song now." You know that the best part about learning to talk is when you can order Mum and Dad around and they can't pretend that they don't undersatnd!!
Nico's second birthday is just around the corner and we can't belive how fast the time has gone. He's getting so grown up! We'll try to keep updating the site a little more regularly.
